Nosy Crow and others are developing animated children's books for eBooks. Kids find the touch screen intuitive. These all color books with animations require much bigger file downloads. Presently children's books and comic books are getting charged more for the bandwidth. This cuts into profit margins.

150 libraries have joined forces to create an online lending library for eBooks. Their goal is 80,000 eBooks people can check out for 2 weeks at a time. For years authors and publishing houses have counted on libraries and bookstores to be primary sources of income. Creating a new profit model will take some adjusting. http://www.openlibrary.org/
Barnes & Noble suspended paying dividends. Publishers will have a hard time recovering if they also file. Hopefully the Nook will bode well for them.
Independent Publishers looking for a new distributor, Delphi Distributing in Kansas City, Kansas is open for business. They have a 70,000 sq ft facility.
The Borders Liquidation on 200 stores started immediately instead of the usual 21 day waiting period. Borders is losing $2M per week, so the liquidation waiting period was eliminated. It will be interesting to see if the losses from this closing will cause more publishers to also close.
Borders Officially filed for Chapter 11. Debts include Penquin $41.1M, Harper Collins $25.8M, Simon & Schuster $33.8M, Random House $33.5M, Hachette $36.9 They will be closing 200 stores soon.

One of the best ways to create great prose is to get in a "flow". Be sure to write and then edit later. It's always tempting to edit while writing, which breaks that flow.
Borders missed paying publishers in January and the stock has gone below $1, which means they will be de-listed for trading on the exchange. If they owe you for product, be sure to press for payment now or get your product returned.
