Statistics from the National Endowment for the Arts: Only a little over half of us read a book, poem, or play for pleasure in the previous year.
Hot debate in the author forums right now is about pricing eBooks at 99 Cents. Of course the customers like the idea, but there seems to be a collective groan by authors they are once again getting the short end of the stick and their hard work is not appreciated and fully compensated.
A survey by Reading Group Choices shows that 25% of reading group members are using e-books. Most e-books were read on the Amazon Kindle (59%), with the Barnes & Noble Nook now in second place at 26%. Almost 20% of reading group members who read e-books used a tablet.
Google Books has been removed from the Apple App store and changes have been made to WSJ in the Apple Environment. The digital giants jockey for market share as customers are forced to choose a platform with desired content.

Amazon Kindle has a textbook rental program available to students. This will mean up to an 80% savings. They are also offering Whispersync so the students are able to keep their notes & highlights from the book even after they stop renting. http://www.amazon.com/kindletextbooks This is monumental for eBooks as the new standard.
Print books sales are have dropped 10.2% in the last six months. The biggest decline was in adult fiction -25.7%.
