Books-A-Million is closing 21 stores, but opening up 41 in previously owned Borders locations in time for the holidays.
eBook sales were up 152.8% in the past 7 month sales period. ($560.5 million)
Downloadable audio sales for the month were up 26.7%, while sales of physical audio declined 25.5% to $8.1 million. Electronic media is making considerable consistent gains over traditional books & media. Ever wonder how libraries dispose of books? Locally, ours sell them for $1 to raise added revenue. Other libraries choose to shred them for pulp. http://www.wbur.org/npr/141265066/hard-choices-do-libraries-really-destroy-books
As Barnes & Noble purchases customer information from Borders, they have run into privacy and "opt out" issues. Should a "Privacy Policy" be violated by a bankruptcy sale? Should purchasing information continue to remain private?
